Carl began his athletic pursuits in earnest in high school playing football and volleyball and running track; for conditioning, he did a lot of power lifting. After graduation, however, life interrupted this fitness regimen and found Carl moving in an unhealthy direction of weight gain and being too sedentary.

Passionate about regaining control of his well-being, and being mindful of his family’s history of diabetes – “I was determined to not have that happen to me,” he says – Carl recommitted to a life of fitness, pursuing body building and weight lifting.
